Entrepreneurial and business/management skills
are becoming an important value added component
for today's engineering and science graduate.
Not only are these skills becoming increasingly
in demand by prospective employers, but
creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial
culture are an important component of South
Dakota's economic development plan.
Further, these same skills can lead to important
attributes related to the development complex
thinking and leadership development. As
part of that development the industrial
engineering department has adopted a holistic
approach to student development which includes
typological understanding necessary for creative
and innovative problem solving.
